Curiosity! | Deane Hutton & Rob Morrison | TEDxCanberra
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Television and education can go hand in hand, and Deane Hutton and Rob Morrison are true pioneers of children's educational television in Australia. They inspired an entire generation to pursue interests in science and continue to do so today. In this talk, they share some of the magic behind the scenes that made their show so popular in the 70s and 80s and which is now winning over a new generation through YouTube.
Deane Hutton has worked professionally as a teacher, lecturer, writer and television presenter and producer. He has degrees in Science and Education and a PhD in Visual Perception and Message Design. Deane speaks at schools and business conferences about science, technology and the future.
Rob Morrison trained as a zoologist and for 40 years he has combined an academic career with television and radio broadcasting and as a science writer. He has written 43 books on science and is Chairman or a Board member of many scientific organisations. His hobbies are silverwork and playing jazz.
The international television program Curiosity Show was produced in Australia for young people. Presented by Deane Hutton and Rob Morrison, it emphasized science, technology and things to make and do.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
