Lying: A 21st Century Truth | Pratyush Mishra | TEDxElproIntlSchool
We weren’t wired to be logical beings; we were wired to believe and that is why, fake news has been added to our dictionaries. In a very insightful talk upon the dichotomous relationship of truth and lies, Pratyush shares “While post-truths are more dangerous on their own, they can become even more powerful when combined with propaganda. Propaganda is when people try to plant an idea into your mind. It does not matter if the idea is right or wrong, it doesn’t matter if it is a lie or if it is the truth. A student, first and foremost. Not only of my school or of academics, but more importantly a student of things I enjoy, and those are aplenty. I find some tranquility in my brush marks while painting, and I find calm when my favorite music, however loud it may be, is playing (especially if it is Queen). I am a sports enthusiast who can both play and watch a number of sports for as long as my body, or rather my parents permit. I hope to become a writer one day. And until that day, and quite definitely even beyond, books and movies shall keep me company. A good book and a good movie both bring me joy alike and so I don’t get into those debates about printed and visual media. And yes, I have two ears that are willing to listen and a mouth that is forever ready to speak my mind. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
