Lorries could be seen boarding ferries to France in Dover on Friday, as soldiers were deployed to assist with coronavirus testing in a bid to speed up the backlog of lorry drivers and other travellers seeking to cross the Channel.
About 4,000 lorry drivers have been waiting to pass channel after France closed the border with the UK, on Friday.
New COVID-19 testing stations were placed in the Port of Dover and nearby to assist the thousands of hauliers who are reportedly still stranded in Kent over Christmas, with soldiers also helping drivers get tested.
One of the lorry drivers, who had waited hours in his cab, could be seen waving his test results happily, saying that these are ''my ticket to home''.
Around 800 military personnel were reportedly deployed in Kent to provide support and testing for the drivers still stuck in their vehicles with the situation estimated to continue over the Christmas weekend.
