Yes, we know the GR Supra 2.0 has been available across Europe and in the United States for some time now, going toe-to-toe with the Alpine A110, Porsche 718 Cayman and the Jaguar F-Type. But now it’s available in the UK, and it could actually be a better driver’s car than the 3.0-litre version.
On the surface, the 2.0 looks a lot like the straight-six version, albeit with 18-inch wheels and smaller exhaust pipes. But the key difference, as the name suggests, is with the engine. The 2.0 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, developing 255bhp - some 80bhp less than the straight-six car. However, the motor is some 100kgs lighter than the six-cylinder unit and can be mounted further back for a 50/50 weight distribution.
Oh, and it shouldn't cannibalise the Toyota GT86, as a new one called the GR86 is on the horizon based on the 2021 Subaru BRZ.
We’ll have to wait a bit longer to get behind the wheel, but in the meantime here are five things you need to know about the Toyota GR Supra 2.0.
