BMW has Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen has Bentley and Mercedes has Maybach. But while the likes of the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Flying Spur are among some of the best-known luxury cars on the market, Daimler’s Maybach sub-brand is somewhat of an unknown.

However, Maybach’s new S-Class could put the company back on the map. Yes, it’s crammed full of leather and wood panels, but there’s also a whole load of tech under the skin. In fact, Mercedes says the Maybach will be capable of Level 3 autonomous driving from 2021 in certain cities.
