Mont Blanc via Gouter solo climb

#montblanc

Third time's the charm! After reaching the top 2 times in not such good weather, I finally managed to see the sunrise as I was taking the last steps on the summit ridge.

-Very windy at the top, but other than that, warm, calm and solid track.
-Hut booking was mandatory and reservation was checked on the way to the refuge.
-2h from Nid d'aigle to Tete Rouse, 3 hours more to Gouter. Some evidence of rockfall in the Grand Couloir but still calm at 3pm.
-Departed at 3.30am and reached the summit minutes after 7 with 2 short breaks.
-1 hour on the summit
-2h back to the refuge ( too many photo breaks)
-train back to Belevue later that day.

The Refuge is clean. No running water but indoor toilets. Extremely noisy! I did the mistake of forgetting earplugs and slept 1-2 hours maximum instead of 7 as planned. BRING EARPLUGS AND SLEEP MASK! There are no lockers like at Tete Rouse.

I had a stove and food but dinner looked good. 1,5L water - 9e, beer similar, cookie -8e.

Now that I've summited from both refuges, I will certainly recommend sleeping at Gouter for a shorter summit day and splendid sunrise on the summit.
