Summerville Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After North Charleston Shooting

A Summerville man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident in North Charleston early Monday morning. Police took 29-year-old Paul Anthony Walker into custody around 2:08 a.m. after responding to reports of gunfire on Amberlake Road. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

Dispatch later directed officers to an apartment on Lambs Road, where a woman indicated the shooting suspect was located. At the scene, police discovered fresh blood on the door and porch. Walker presented himself to the officers without incident, and a subsequent search revealed he was in possession of two cell phones, a speed loader containing live rounds of .38 ammunition, and four spent rounds.

Walker now faces multiple charges including two counts of attempted murder, first degree burglary, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and four counts of discharging a firearm into a dwelling. He was transported to the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center with no bond granted for the attempted murder and burglary charges, while a $150,000 bond was set for the other charges.

Walker has a criminal history that includes prior arrests for armed robbery and weapons-related offenses, as well as a 10-year prison sentence for conspiring to commit multiple armed robberies across South Carolina and into North Carolina. The investigation is ongoing, and News 4 is seeking additional information regarding the case.
