10-year-old girl found safe with minor injuries in Kittitas County

A 10-year-old girl previously reported missing near Cathedral Rock in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, which is in a remote area of Kittitas County near Cle Elum has been found.

Officials are preparing to evacuate the girl for medical attention, but she's expected to be fine.

Before being found about a mile and a half into the area, the girl was last seen on Sunday in the late morning or mid-day. The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) said deputies first learned about the missing girl around 1:45 p.m. Sunday when a family member drove out for help.

The girl was reportedly with a family group of about 20 people when she went missing. It is currently unknown where the girl or her family is from. Inspector Christopher Whitsett said she was seen playing near a footbridge over the Cle Ellum River before going missing.
