At first, Duskpaw only acted kind to Quickpaw in order to lure him to the Dark Forest. But quickly, they grew to form a genuine friendship.

That all fell apart when Quickstrike learned the truth about how his sister, Flowerpaw, died. She had been sick, and Duskshadow had stolen and destroyed the herbs that would heal her so that she would die and cause grief and suffering to Quickpaw so the Dark forest could reach him.

It didn’t matter how many moons ago that was, Quickstrike still wanted vengeance.

“He’s dead, more than dead, even. Duskshadow is gone. So then, why don’t I feel any better?”
