Waiting in the Wings (Reprise) - Quickmist PMV

This is probably gonna be the last thing I do this June, and if I am wrong I will eat my cat. Seriously, I have no idea how I found motivation to do this much. Eh, it’s probably because I’m out of school now.

Anyways, can’t remember if I’ve done anything with Quickmist since the speed draw I did. Quickmist had done many things to harm Freshstar, most of which she regretted. So when they come across each other in the dark forest and Freshstar attacks Quickmist, Quickmist shows Freshstar her childhood, trying to explain how her grief, jealousy, and entitlement led her to horrible actions after Freshstar joined the clan.
It starts with Quickmist’s brother, Barrenear, who eventually became Barrenstar. He was born deaf and often didn’t understand that Quickmist was playing when she jumped or tackled him. It scared him, and when the clan realized he was deaf, they told Quickmist she couldn’t play with him anymore for his own safety. This led Quickmist to try and seek playmates in the apprentices, since she was the only kit besides her brother at the time, and her mother, who for the love of Starclan I cannot remember her name, (Quickmist’s and Barrenstar’s father had died before they were born) But her mother often would watch over Barrenkit to make sure he was ok and safe, even going as far as becoming his mentor when he became an apprentice.
Even as a kit, Quickmist worked hard and the clan expected her to be a great warrior when she grew up. She followed the code, often began training early by watching the apprentices, and even caught a young mouse that had unknowingly wandered into camp once. She once overheard Firestar (not cannon Firestar, his warrior name was Fireflare) mention how he believed she’d make an excellent deputy, or even leader, when Quickmist grew up. From then on, Quickmist made it a promise to prove him right, and one day become leader of Treeclan.
Even though he was deaf, Barrenpaw didn’t fall behind in his training, and eventually the clan found out that part of the reason was because Starclan cats would cone and talk to him, and he could understand them. Upon this realization, he suddenly became the most popular cat in camp, and all of the attention Quickmist had before suddenly vanished. All of her expectations and dreams were suddenly falling apart, all because Starclan wanted to help her brother. Later on (not shown in the video), Barrenear was even made deputy and then leader, unknowingly stealing Quickmist’s dream, and filling her with great resentment.
When Barrenpaw and Quickpaw were taking their warrior assesments, Quickpaw’s mother was attacked by rogues. She called out for help, but Barrenpaw couldn’t hear her, but Quickpaw could. She ditched her assessment and raced to help her mother, being the reason the rogues didn’t kill her outright. Due to her bravery, Firestar wanted to make her a warrior despite the fact that she didn’t pass her assessment, but Quickpaw refused, wanting her mother to get better from her injuries before earning her warrior name. Unfortunately, Quickpaw’s mother didn’t recover, and ended up dying. Quickmist earned her warrior name, but not like she wanted. She blamed Barrenear for their mother’s death, as if he wasn’t deaf he would have heard her and could have saved her before her injuries became fatal.
Freshstar knew the rest of the story, so Quickmist stopped sharing her memories. But Freshstar wasn’t convinced that this explained Quickmist’s actions. Instead of accepting Quickmist’s apology, she simply left her alone, continuing to wander through the Dark Forest by herself, knowing she’s likely never encounter another cat again. (Freshstar did end up finding Bloodheart, but she didn’t know that at the time. She chose to suffer in eternal loneliness rather than forgive her enemy)
