Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has delivered one of the most direct threats yet aimed at Tehran — warning that Israel is prepared to launch strikes "even more painful" than those already carried out, if Iran refuses to reach a nuclear agreement with the United States.
Speaking publicly, Katz framed the moment as a turning point in the long-running standoff between the two nations. He described Iran as standing at a "historic crossroads," with a clear choice between diplomacy and destruction.
"This is their moment of choice — between a bridge to the future and an abyss of isolation and destruction," Katz said. He added that if Iran chose confrontation, it would "very quickly discover" that targets Israel has not yet hit would be struck with even greater force.
The warning comes amid ongoing US-Iran negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme — talks that carry enormous stakes not just for the Middle East, but for global security. Israel, which is not a party to those talks, has long reserved the right to act independently to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capability.
Katz closed his statement with a pointed message: "The choice is in their hands and the consequences are on them."
