Parts, Parts & More Parts - Plus Rear Brake Conversion Tear Down
After painting and sealing the underbody and frame of the Honda civic I went forward and started to disassemble the trailing arms, the rusty trailing arms. This is required for the rear brake conversion that I am doing to the ek civic. Luckily all the bolts were removed without too many problems. The condition of the trailing arms are okay but do require some cleaning, especially the scaled rust that is built onto the trailing arm and the spindle plate. It sucks but this could be some of the last few parts where I will be dealing with rust. I do look forward to the rust being a thing of the past. next for them is prep and paint which will be in the next video, and if I get lucky with timing I will even try and mount them onto the frame and complete the suspension.
The second half of this video discusses the overall spending to date on the honda civic. I feel a lot of channels forget to mention the spending, sometimes only giving a rough cost, I am going to do my best to go in thorough detail on how much I have been spending on new parts and used parts. not saying my purchases are the cheapest but they work with my budget. hopefully, someone can take some of the information in and if you or someone you know requires the used parts I am discussing in this video, maybe it can be used to give you an idea of what you could be spending or even saving when doing a little legwork. all and all rebuilding a car isn't cheap, so I think it's important to take your time, don't rush it and go to the junkyard and look for some parts. plus its a lot of fun to be in the yard. I do go through a lot of the major parts to the car and will continue to display prices through the rest of my videos and one day I will tally up all the cost to all the parts I've purchased to rebuild my honda civic. hopefully i did a good job going over the total spending dollars on the honda.
Just to go over the parts a bit, the suspension all around is tein street basis. After i actually get to drive the car i will do a tein suspension review. I also purchased insane shafts car axles, innovative mounts for the engine, control arms from rock auto. Fantastic service so far from them by the way. The rear brakes and front knuckles i purchased used locally. The undercoating product is once again POR15 which has been a close friend lately. It does a wonderful job.
