Rapid Resolve - Auto White Balance
DaVinci Resolve can automatically white balance your shot through a couple of different methods. This video shows how to use the Auto White Balance tool on the Color page. You can also set your white and black points. When you auto balance your image, you are automatically adjusting the tonal range of the clip.
The image in this video has a blue cast to it. In Resolve, do the following:
1. Open the Color page.
2. Select your wheels/bars.
3. On the top-left area of the toolbar, above Lift, is an icon. Click the A with the circle around it.
And that's it. You've white balanced the shot. This is a good starting point for your color corrections and grade.
Note that Auto White Balance may struggle if your media is poorly lit when shot. For example, your media might have too much darkness in the shadows because it was poorly shot, and the Auto White Balance tool might overcompensate to correct this. Use the Auto White Balance tool as a starting point.
