The sea turtles and alligators of Florida's Everglades

Nowhere is the American way of life as relaxed as on Florida's splendid beaches. The Keys, a chain of islands at the far southern end of the state, reveal a more laid-back side of the USA. The climate is tropical, the lifestyle tranquil. It is the home of 1.5 million alligators. Someone who knows them very well and even speaks their language, is Jesse Kennon - the "King of the Everglades", as his friends call him.

Bette Zirkelbach seeks to preserve a natural treasure: She takes care of injured sea turtles at the only specialised turtle hospital in the world, preparing them for their release back into the wild. Human actions led to the endangerment of the animals.
