DOOM meets SPIDER-MAN in this NEW VR GAME! // Quest 2 PC VR Gameplay

Dead Hook is the newest VR game from Joy Way, a studio well known for high quality VR mechanics and a constant stream of new VR games (sometimes to their detriment). Dead Hook feels like a VR Doom meets Spider Man hybrid; it's a new VR roguelike with the music, enemy designs and frantic combat of the new Doom games mixed with a swinging/hook mechanic reminiscent of Spider Man or Bionic Commando. It's chunky good fun and is easily the best VR game that Joy Way have made since Stride but it's also one that's suffering from a bit of an identity crisis as it fails to feel wholly new or unique, especially if you've played the games that clearly inspired it. From a VR gameplay perspective however Dead Hook is a blast, zipping around each room at high speed whilst blasting enemies is a real joy and shows just how good Joy Way can be at implementing fun VR systems. I'm particularly fond of using the hook to latch onto stunned enemies before pulling myself towards them and smashing them to pieces, I really can't see that ever getting old...

If you're a fan of VR roguelike games or you're looking for a VR Doom style experience then Dead Hook will no doubt scratch your itch, but for those who don't enjoy the rinse and repeat loop of a rogue style game Dead Hook might fall flat after a few runs as it's rooms, enemies and VR gameplay loop can feel a little repetitive even in the early stages. This Dead Hook VR gameplay was captured using a Quest 2 PC VR connection, this is not the native Quest 2 version and was instead running on Steam via a 4090 VR setup.
