Daniel Hope on his family, his career, his philosophy, and his music salon
Meet Daniel Hope at his salon, Hope@9pm, at Berlin’s Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt. The famous violin player regularly hosts the salon for music and conversation. One very special evening focuses on 1938. During that fateful year, Hope’s family had to leave Germany. He explores the music of 1938 along with guests Thomas Hampson and Horst Maria Merz.
Daniel Hope says that music inspires him and is the key to all the other things he does in his life. Hope believes that music makes people think and engage in dialogue, instead of making war. And, he says, music defines who you are.
