Requests getting ignored at work? It may be the way you are asking.
If you are struggling with your team listening to or following your requests, it may be due to the way you are asking. Let's talk about how to fix that.
A big reason why our requests may get ignored is because we don't provide proper context.
The bottom line is, when we ask someone to do something, they want to know there is purpose, reason behind the request.
So instead of saying "I need this done by end of day."
Say something like "The CEO requested we have this done by end of week because he is giving a presentation next month. How can we make that happen? How can I help you make that happen?"
You are very likely to get a response on a request like that!
