Trial Story - Preacher on Trial - Rev. Walker Railey (1993)

Court TV's presentation of the trial of Rev. Walker Railey.
Railey was charged with the attempted murder of his wife, Peggy, 6 years earlier.
The Honorable Pat McDowell presides. It's Cecil Emerson and Howard Wilson for the prosecution. Railey's defense lawyers are Doug Mulder, Roy Barrera, Sr. and Roy Barrera, Jr.
Railey does take the stand in his own defense. Railey's former mistress, Dr. Lucy Papillon, reluctantly testifies for the prosecution.
Also testifying are: Billie Jo Nicolai (the victim's mother), Leland Giannini (FBI agent), Stan McNear (Dallas Police Detective), Dr. Steven Mbutu (former SMU librarian), Craig Smith (cellular phone expert), Tom Dewan (FBI agent) and Lawrence Presley (DNA expert).
Jurors Debra Allen and Kent Meredith are interviewed at the conclusion of the trial.
The thumbnail I've chosen is an odd one. A cameraman outside the courtroom was recording some footage of the crowd waiting to get in to see the trial and one of the potential spectators had brought along her paperback copy of "The Demon Inside" by Barbara Wedgwood. That's the 1993 true crime book written about Rev. Railey and the attack on his wife.
