Bass cover - Dire Straits / Sultans of Swing (Live at the Hammersmith Odeon, 1983)

This is a behemoth of a song played live by a band at the peak of its powers. Mark Knopfler's lead guitar is obviously the star turn here and Terry Williams' performance behind the drum kit is absolutely immense, but John Illsley 's bass part is a masterclass in providing the anchor for a song and propelling it forward, complementing the guitars, vocals and drums beautifully throughout.
