CONSUMMATION OF GRIEF

In 1962, Charles Bukowski was working as a fill-in letter carrier for a Los Angeles post office. He was distraught over the death of Jane Cooney Baker, his first serious girlfriend. So he turned his inner devastation into a series of poems and stories lamenting her death, "Consummation of Grief" may be regarded as the most iconic one.
