Is understanding AuDHD The KEY to UNLOCKING Your Childhood Memories?
Understanding autism helped me understand my childhood for the first time.
Growing up, I never naturally understood hierarchy the way others seemed to. Titles, authority, and social ranking didn’t automatically make sense to me. I responded to people as people, not positions.
Later I learned that many autistic individuals process social structure differently and rely more on logic and fairness than implicit hierarchy.
Because I didn’t recognize those unspoken rules, I was often misunderstood and sometimes picked on as a child.
For a long time I thought that meant something was wrong with me.
In college, things felt different. Looking back now, I realize some people around me were unknowingly supporting my needs in small ways.
I didn’t have the language for it then, but it made a difference.
There was also a period where the world didn’t feel like a very kind place, and I struggled quietly with that for a long time.
Understanding autism helped me see those experiences with more clarity and less self-blame.
If any part of this feels familiar, your struggles and your support needs are real and valid. You are not alone in them.
Many of us were trying to understand ourselves without the words for what we were experiencing.
