Elon Musk rejects Twitter board's offer

Elon Musk has declined to join the Twitter board of directors despite becoming the company's largest shareholder.

Twitter's CEO Parag Agrawal said the billionaire relayed his decision on the morning he had been due to be officially appointed.

"Elon has decided not to join our board. I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here," he said in a statement on Twitter.

The billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder recently bought a 9.2 per cent stake in Twitter which gives him more shares than founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey.
