Politicians need to 'get beyond the Canberra bubble' and think about regional Australia

Former deputy prime minister Michael McCormack says politicians don't get "beyond the bubble, that is Canberra".

Mr McCormack highlighted how policies set out by the government don’t take into account regional Australia.

“Too many of the ministers these days are listening to the bureaucrats,” he said.

“None of those bureaucrats, or very few of them, ever get beyond the bubble that is Canberra and that is the problem.

“It’s a problem when it comes to regional grant funding.”
