Caesar's Restaurant and Bar | Tijuana, Baja, Mexico

Did you know Caesar's restaurant in Tijuana is famous for inventing the Caesar Salad? The restaurant has a rich history, having been established in 1927 and becoming a hotspot during prohibition for those from north of the border seeking great food and drinks.

While the salad's name derived from the restaurants owner, Caesar Cardini, it was actually Chef Livio Santini who invented the Caesar Salad. Cardini immediately recognized its potential and had prepared tableside, where is still how it's prepared fresh for guests today.

One of the things that makes the Caesar Salad so special is its simplicity. The ingredients may seem ordinary, but when combined, they create a flavor explosion in your mouth.

If you're a foodie or a history buff, I highly recommend visiting Caesar's in Tijuana (just south of San Diego!). It's a unique dining experience and the salad is amazing.

Unfortunately we visited during the midst of COVID, so no table side service. But it was still delicious and I can't wait to go back and get the full experience.

Here's the recipe: Caesar Salad - serving for 2

1 Heart of Romaine, whole leaf
1 tsp Anchovies paste
½ tsp Garlic minced
½ tsp Dijon mustard
3 dashes Worcestershire
1 egg yolk from coddled egg
½ cup Light Olive oil
Black Pepper 3 or 4 twists
Lime juice ½ to whole depending on amount
¼ cup Parmesan cheese grated
Croutons, baguette style
