0:00 Intro
0:05 As mentioned it's a Ford F-350 with the 6.4L Powerstroke (diesel).
Since a rag was left in the oil pan, the oil pick-up tube was most likely clogged and couldn't pump engine oil to the oil pump thus causing the stuttering the customer was talking about. The customer is lucky they didn't drive like this for too long, because the lack of oil pressure would have caused quite a bit of engine damage.
0:25 Most oil pans will require a gasket and RTV silicone in just a few spots (all depends on the vehicle), but whoever did this used RTV silicone everywhere and forgot a bunch of bolts. No wonder it's leaking.
0:40 Vehicle was a Honda Ridgeline. As mentioned, always lube the oil filter gasket (depends on the vehicle though, as some manufacturers recommend to NOT lube the oil filter gasket) and don't over-tighten it! The mechanic used an air hammer and got it off.
0:52 This looks to be the rear trailing arm mount that is rusted off. Knowing how rusty that is, I'm sure it will need a lot more than just that.
1:05 This apparently drove to the shop. Looks like the customer had the lower control arm chained to the sub-frame.
1:13 You can see that this wheel bearing was making noise for A LONG time! The hub is super worn and also discolored from getting very hot. I don't even know how the customer got this to the shop in one piece but they're lucky!
1:29 As mentioned, the customer wanted 2 new tires but only to have them installed on the passenger side. Usually, if you're only getting two new tires, you'd have them installed on the front only or just the rear but this is unusual. Hopefully, they get the two other ones soon.
1:47 Didn't mention anything about this unfortunately but it's scary to know they drove home in reverse.
1:56 This is the torque sequence if you want to read it - https://www.genuinesaab.com/psi/files/headretorque.htm
As mentioned that's a mix of coolant and engine oil.
Because the cylinder head wasn't torqued down tight the coolant leaked into the oil and caused this effect. Also, to add on, when torquing head bolts you have to work your way up to final torque in rounds. Either that or they only did the first step, which is a fraction of the proper value. Either of these methods won't seat the head gasket right.
As per the customer's request the mechanic re-torqued the head bolts, flush oil, and coolant.
2:13 Customer had electrical tape on top of check engine light and right turn signal.
2:26 Battery terminal corroded off. Here's an article also how to read a car battery date code - https://batteryglobe.com/how-to-read-car-battery-date-codes/
2:35 Person who took this photo took it around 2 years ago just in case you were wondering. But that's a lot of Jerry Cans. No wonder they could smell fuel.
2:45 Just wanted to show you this beautiful 1946 Lincoln Continental with a flat-head V12 that came in for some work.
3:03 Outro. Thanks for watching!
