Shearing our own sheep
Last year me and dot went on a course to learn how to shear sheep. It isnt expensive to get sheep sheared when you have lots of them (about £2 each) but when you only have a few too do no one is going to come and setup for £14 so there would be a lot of setup costs and not only that it would be difficult to find someone to come and do it. So we decided to do it ourself. It is a really difficult job. the shearing the sheep is one aspect but for me the main skill is the holding and body positioning to keep the sheep from kicking. We both got the hang of it to the point that we can do our own without hurting them, it just takes us quite a while and they are a bit messy. but every year we will improve.
