Today we travel into the James Peak Wilderness area to hike up to the Crater Lakes. The isthmus between the two lower lakes was one of the most beautiful areas I've ever seen.

At the trailhead of the hike was the East Portal to the Moffat Tunnel. The Moffat Tunnel is a railroad and water tunnel that cuts through the Continental Divide in north-central Colorado. Named after Colorado railroad pioneer David Moffat, the tunnel's first official railroad traffic passed through in February 1928.
