Another day, another mud party for the elephant herd & special Khanyisa & Tokwe time

We are so thrilled for the herd to be able to enjoy the wet earth again as the seasons change. 💦 Here you can see how just about each and every member of the herd takes part, including the bulls, Zindoga, Somopane and Fishan.

Pisa splashes Carer Josiya while Fishan takes to a full on shower, lathering Adine in mud. Somopane takes his grand place in the wallow and rests his trunk over his tusk. Pisa has no desire to move from her resting spot once she gets comfortable in the cold earth.

Khanyisa splashes beside Lundi’s feet with Timisa and Limpopo soon copying her and lying down. Bubi joins in too, flapping her lathe ears to keep cool.

Fishan eventually lies down too and must truly enjoy the relief of the mud as he rests his four tonne body. He lifts himself up with ease considering his weight. Friends Tokwe and Lundi splash side by side.

Kumbura keeps Khanyisa company as a protective presence as the calf ambles closer to Matriarch Tokwe to play. Enjoy some endearing moments between these two, with their gentle giant tenderness.

The elephants are all ready for the day now, until swim time when the mud is washed off and needs to be reapplied!
