3 Ways To Bring Relaxation Into Your Sprinting Instantly | Flow State Sprinting

#Relaxation is crucial to generating speed and power for sprinting. It's sets the foundation for athletes and especially sprinters to be "in the flow". A #sprinter under constant stress and tension will not be in the flow and will blunt the ability to run at their best. Because tension caused by stress and anxiety is so common in society now, often an athlete's abilities are hampered even before he/she sets foot on the track or the gym. As well as this, research has already concluded a link between psychological stress levels and injury. One paper stated that athletes with high stress levels were 5 times more likely to get injured (Nippert et al, 2008).

Relaxed sprinting is now an important skill that needs to be prioritised. Many pundits on TV talk about relaxation but never expand on it probably because they don't understand it fully themselves. Some pundits or commentators have even said, inside the same sentance, "she stayed relaxed and worked hard through the line" which is a massive contradiction in terms.

You can't work hard and relax at the same time.

Although many coaches and athletes know about relaxation, very few know how to incorporate it into sprinting. The train hard mentality is still prominent in many sports, including athletics and, as a result, many athletes will suffer huge frustration throughout their running career. Train hard environemt will almost certainly prolong high levels of tension and tightness in athletes. As a result, their injury rate will certainly be more frequent and their times will not improve very fast.

In a time where chronic stress has never been higher, strategies to bring relaxation into performance for the benefit of recovery and performance but also mental health, have never been more important. The strategies to deal with relaxation while sprinting in the moment are flawed and misunderstood. This is where this video can help.
