- Must Have Add-On for your Embroidery Business | Avancé 1501C + Sawgrass Sublimation Printer
If you have an embroidery business or are thinking about starting one you are going to want to watch this full video.
I am going to be talking about my favorite "must-have" add on for an embroidery machine. Sublimation!
Sublimation printing is the easiest and fastest way to digitally print and decorate t-shirts and other hard surfaced goods.
Here is how you customize a shirt with a sublimation printer:
1. Print out your design. In this video we use the Beaver Tex-Print brand of paper with the Sawgrass SG1000.
The Sawgrass SG500 is also a great choice for projects like this, plus it's only about $600 - find it here: https://colmanandcompany.com/sawgrass-virtuoso-sg500-sublimation-printer-bundle.html
2. Lay your shirt on the lower platen of your heat press. For sublimation you have to use 100% polyester light colored shirts.
We also use Vapor Apparel, these shirts are specifically made for sublimation and come in certified colors that look great after being heat pressed.
Next place your transfer on the shirt and press at 380 degrees for 60 seconds.
3. When time is up, carefully remove the transfer and your shirt is complete!
So there are a few big reasons why I love the combination of a sublimation printer with an embroidery machine.
First, is work flow. From what you saw in this video, you know that making a shirt with sublimation is very quick and only takes a couple steps.
If you are an embroider you know, that it's a set it and forget it kind of machine. While you let your Avance embroidery machine sew out jobs, you can be making shirts with sublimation.
Second, is price. Sublimation printing supplies and equipment are super affordable so this won't take away from the high-value aspect that you want for your embroidery business.
Third, is combination projects. Sublimation allows you to do things that are really hard to embroider or things that embroidery just can't do at all.
With this combination of products you can:
- Sublimate on Patches for Hats
- Custom Fishing Shirts and Embroidered Boat Fender Covers
- Personalize Mugs to go with Employee Logo Polos
