Sublimating Crystal Awards | Sawgrass SG1000

Sublimation is great for making custom shirts and other apparel, BUT did you know it's a great method for decorating hard surface goods?

With a sublimation printer and specialty sublimation blanks you can add tons of custom items to your business. On our supply division website we offer a huge selection of these sublimation blanks.

One of our favorites are the Crystal Awards. They are made of a thick crystal glass, with a white, polyester coating on the back. They also come with a stand. The best part about customizing something like this is that they are an extremely high quality item. Decorating them costs less than a dollar and they can sell for big money.

Here are our recommended instructions for customizing the Diamond "Big Hill" Crystal Awards:

1. Clean the white, polyester coated surface of any debris, dust or oils.

2. Print design on sublimation paper using Sawgrass SG1000 printer. Do not mirror your image. There are a couple of essential items you will need for a sublimation printing business, you can learn about them all here: https://youtu.be/R8E-yS-PsUY

3. Adhere the transfer to the white side of the diamond crystal, use heat tape to secure it into place.
You can now somewhat see the transfer through the front of the clear crystal, but once we sublimate this, the design will be very clear and vibrant.

4. When putting the award on the heat press, lay it on the lower platen with the white side facing up.
For this crystal award we found that 400 degrees for 200 seconds works best. You also want to make sure you use a light pressure so that the glass does not crack.

5. When time is up, use heat resistant gloves to immediately remove the transfer, revealing your finished crystal award!
