Rare 1950's Bandai Ferrari Japanese Friction Toy Restoration

This is a rare 1950's Bandai Ferrari 750 Monza friction toy that I found online and paid $40. I really like the design of this car but have never seen anyone take one of these apart and had no idea if I could restore it. It was more challenging than I imagined but I am extremely happy with the results. One major hurdle was that the decals are lithographed onto the metal. I do not have a way to recreate them so I took a chance and brought the hubcaps down to bare metal and applied a decal printed on clear paper. I then sprayed clear paint over the metal to get the same effect. I think it turned out great. Looking back, using body filler and painting the car would have been much easier, instead of the multiple coats of powder. I ended up sanding down the final powder coat stage with 2K grit sandpaper and buffing the entire car to get the smooth finish.
