Student Spotlight: Samantha Shih '20
Growing up, Samantha Shih '20, a neuroscience & behavior major at Barnard College, knew she wanted to be a doctor. It wasn't until her organic chemistry classmate mentioned her experience as a doula that Samantha decided that was another aspect of women's health care she wanted to learn. Support from Beyond Barnard helped her travel to a New York area center where doulas assist the mother during labor. Her training and experience as a volunteer doula, Samantha says, has shaped her goal to become a doctor specializing in women's health.
