Laguna del Maule Volcano Update; Magma Moving at Depth, Alert Level Raised
The alert level was just raised at a volcano with a vast magma reservoir. Known to contain more than 100 cubic kilometers of magma, the Laguna del Maule volcano is also producing a rate of 20 centimeters of uplift a year. Yet, this is not exactly as unprecedented as it might seem, as this volcano has been uplifted by more than 50 meters or 164 feet during the last 10,000 years.
