Pine Lake central high plains Tasmania a very special place

There is a very special place on the Central Plateau. It is so special that it is part of Tasmania’s world heritage area. A 30 minute walk will take you back over 100 million years. Fossils show that Pencil Pines Athrotaxis cupressoides have been growing on this earth for more than 100 million years.
Reflecting - A good place to let Pine Lake share some of its secrets. Pencil Pines and Plum Pines are ancient species which developed before flowering plants. What does it take for plants to survive in this environment?
The Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania designed & constructed the boardwalk & its viewing areas, bringing awareness of the significance of this site and Tasmania's connection to Gondwana Land and its ancient trees. The walk is attractive; the signage is very informative and well maintained.
