Hamilton Denies “Luck” To Thank For His Podium

With Lewis Hamilton enduring his worst qualifying at Bahrain since 2009, many felt that he had no chance of a podium. However, a double DNF for Red Bull allowed him to take the final spot on the podium. Lewis has now given his thoughts on whether he was fortunate to finish third in Bahrain and if it was payback for what happened last year at Abu Dhabi while speaking to the media after the race

Lewis Hamilton Shuts Down Talks of Bad “Karma” for Verstappen

Lewis started off by expressing his joy at finishing on the podium

“It is such a long season and it is going to be such a hard battle, but we love a challenge, I love a challenge and it is a privilege to work with a team that is hungry and focused on a common goal”

“There is no better feeling than when you come together and have a result like this”

He then explained how every single point is crucial

“Every point can make a difference. I have lost world titles by one point, but, while we are not necessarily on a par with the fastest guys, it is a really, really great result”

He then responded to whether he was lucky as prior to Red Bull’s double DNF, it looked like he had no chance of a podium

“Of course it was fortunate, but ultimately we have done a better job because we had better reliability. So I don’t say it is luck, but hard work”

He signed off by giving his thoughts on whether this was karma for the events of the season-finale last year

“I don’t have any response to that but to focus on our job. It was unfortunate for them today. I am here to look at the positives.”

Was Hamilton’s podium in Bahrain simply “luck” or because of “hard work” for having a more reliable car?
