Technical Details:

Researched and found by Ikhnaton, this reel by Louis Dosch was very well filmed with fairly long segments, compared with typical 8mm films. He was able to capture a great full view of the stage, to really give an impression of what it must have been like to attend the show. Louis is a musician and his music can be heard on #SoundCloud:

Genesis did 8mm film no favors with their Selling England by the Pound "black show" since there is so little light on stage, but I did a 2K transfer and was able to capture more details than normal from this dark show.

Thankfully the film itself was in good shape and the segments were fairly long. I cleared some noise and film imperfections (dirt, damage) as much as possible, though there are a few scratches here and there. I then interpolated to a higher frame rate for smoother motion, and it works very well here IMO.

The next step was the audio sync, which was mostly handled by Ikhnaton. Genesis played 2 dates at Santa Monica, and while our best guess is that the film is from March 22, 1974, there is no complete audio recording of either night, so Ikhnaton used the closest match and highest quality audio available.

The results give a great peek at this later leg of the Selling England tour, and for those who are into such things...Steve Hackett standing during Supper's Ready :)
