Rush - Live Ft. Worth Texas October 21, 1977 8mm Film (HD)
Here is another short but great film from DFW Rock Show, two brothers from Texas who filmed many shows over the years. Check out the DFW Rock Show channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@doctorc90
I took this transfer and restored it a much as possible, though it was darker than normal for Rush in this period, maybe due to the camera being somewhat far away from the stage. I brightened it a fair amount, had to do a moderate amount of NR, stabilized it, and cleaned it up. For a look at the raw transfer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXoWNnl7vG0
Then with the help of Pete Koza and Analog Kid Audio Video, I synced the audio. As Rush fans are not blessed with so many audio recordings, I had to use recordings from a different show, and work some magic to make everything fit as closely as possible.
The segments were long enough so the matches didn't take too long to find, but the camera they used was a wind-up model. While the image quality is really quite amazing for the time, the speed of the film tends to change as the mechanism "unwinds". So most of my time was spent finding the right speed and placement for the segments, adding and shifting and cutting and pasting to make the match as close as reasonably possible.
