Abbey Lincoln Interview
A few years before she died, I met Abbey Lincoln backstage at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. She called herself a folk singer, and compared her work to that of Hank Williams and Bob Dylan. She said her songs were "of the folk" and writing them kept her from having to go to a psychiatrist. Here's that audio interview.
