Minox in the Movies "Calling Northside 777" 1948

James Stewart portrays a crusading journalist trying to free a man wrongly convicted of murder. Suspecting a coverup, Stewart's character tracks down and photographs documents supporting the man's claim of innocence. Stewart uses his Minox A correctly and carefully, setting exposure and focus while adjusting the lighting for a good exposure. The movie becomes less credible towards the end when he has a photograph (with no negative) "duped" and enlarged hundreds of times in order to read the date on a newspaper. Even if he had had the negative the image would likely have been too grainy to provide the detail dramatized in the movie. Entertaining movie for its time, however.
