Historic SpaceX Falcon 9 booster damaged at sea

SpaceX's flight leader in its Falcon fleet was irrevocably damaged as it was heading back to Port Canaveral in Florida. After completing its 19th launch and landing with the Starlink 6-32 mission, the booster toppled over on the droneship, 'Just Read the Instructions.' SpaceX pointed to high winds and rough ocean conditions as the principle reasons for the booster's demise.

The booster, tail number B1058, was historically significant, since it launched former NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on the Demo-2 mission on May 30, 2020. This was the first crewed launch from American soil after the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011.
