Marlene Dietrich In Paris (1949)

Unused / unissued footage - dates and locations may be unknown or unclear.
Film star actress Marlene Dietrich arrives in Paris, France, and visits salon / fashion house of Christian Dior - 23 and 24 May, 1949.
M/S of 'Skymaster' aeroplane landing at Orly airfield. Several shots of glamorous film star Marlene Dietrich coming out of the aircraft and posing on the steps. She is wearing an elegant suit, white gloves and hat with a spotted veil, with her fur coat over her arm. Marlene is greeted by officials on the tarmac - Mr Jacks of Warner Brothers gives her a bouquet of long-stemmed roses. C/U of Marlene as she waggles her finger at the camera, as if to say "too close!". Back view as she poses for photographers. She walks off with Mr Jacks and another man - one of them carries Marlene's fur coat.
Fabulous sequence shows Marlene visiting the fashion salon of designer Christian Dior! (Can it get any better than this?!!) Marlene looks fantastic in a black dress (short enough to show off the famous Dietrich legs) and hat, sitting on a sofa in the salon drawing room with an assistant on a chair beside her. Three models in white, full-skirted and strapless evening dresses parade before her one by one. Marlene fingers the fabric of the gowns, runs her eyes over the models and chats to them.
One mannequin wears a gown which seems to be made of a sparkling cellophane-type material - the effect is that it is made out of bubbles! Another wears a dress of finely pleated and draped white tulle. Final shot shows the three models gathered before Marlene, while she appears to be making up her mind which one to have (the dresses, I mean).
Cataloguer's note: this item scores full marks for glamour!
