Film about the successful year in the British Film industry.
Herbert Wilcox at Daily Mail Film Festival honoured for his film Piccadilly Incident. Daily Express Film Ball shots of dance floor. Shot of Googie Withers and Griffith Jones. Dolores Gray and Michael Wilding. Sunday Pictorial Film Garden Party - stars present include: Richard Attenborough, Muriel Pavlow, Derek Farr, Joan Dowling and Beatrice Campbell. Fans clamber over barricades to get to their heroes. Liners bring personalities to Southampton. Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Taylor are interviewed.
Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy are interviewed and play their characters. Mae West cracks a joke. The Goldwyn Girls pose on an ocean liner. Cameramen are seen. Wallace Beery. Jackie Coogan joined forces with Pathe's British boy star "Dave" and his dog "Dusty". Tony Wager (Pip of 'Great Expectations) is seen at home with his family. Jean Simmons walks with a book on her head and has a ride on the back of a motorcycle.
Rex Harrison is seen at home with his wife Lilli Palmer and son Rex Junior. Phyllis Calvert gives daughter Anne a reading lesson. John Mills shown with his wife, Mary Hayley Bell and daughter (looks like Juliet). James Mason and wife Pamela with their cats. Mason sketches. Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart lead a parade of Hollywood Stars to the courtroom where the Congress on "Anti-American Activities" is being held. Chairman Parnell Thomas makes a speech.
Adolphe Menjou speaks against Communism. Pre-Command Performance party in London. Robert Montgomery (speaks to Rex Harrison and Lilli Palmer), Loretta Young, Bob Hope, Patricia Roc, Alexis Smith; Hope makes a jokey speech. King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret meet the stars. Queen speaks to Vivien Leigh and Anne Todd. Shakes hand of Stewart Granger. The line-up of stars relaxes when the royals have passed by; Rex Harrison has a cigarette, John Mills has some snuff! Others mingle and chat - ultra-glam Margaret Lockwood seen in the group.
