Doris Day passes away (1922 - 2019) (USA) - BBC & ITV News - 13th May 2019

Probably the last major actor from Hollywood's 'Golden Era' of the 1930s and 1940s, though she did not continue after the 1960s, she was and is still known as the the 'world's sweetheart', the girl next door, who everyone loved, who could sing and went into acting with no training and turned to animal activism in later life.

I have been watching her films for decades up until this time, as some of her films are classics or have iconic songs and to see lesser known films she has done that I may have missed first time round. Songs and even a few films have been redone or even remade, but she did them better. My mum would go round singing songs from her films as well as I grew up. She may have been absent from the spotlight for most of her later years, only resurfacing now and again, but her films will be there for all to see in the future.

Films I particularly liked:
Send Me No Flowers (1964)
Move Over, Darling (1963)
Pillow Talk (1959)
Calamity Jane (1953)
By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953) (follows on from On Moonlight Bay)
On Moonlight Bay (1951)

You may like other films she made.

Doris Day was an American actress, singer, and animal-welfare activist.

She died at the age of 97.
