The 4 Seasons (w Frankie Valli): "Born To Wander" acapella

"Born To Wander" is the title song taken from the first album The 4 Seasons recorded for the Philips label (1964). Perhaps influenced by the newly famous Bob Dylan or Peter, Paul, & Mary, or for some other reason, it's odd that this would be their first release on their new label. Right after the release of the 'Born To Wander' album, the Seasons went back into the studio to record the more famous and successful 'Dawn' album.

On this recording, the Seasons sing together as a quartet, not the typical rock & roll formula of lead & backup. Valli's falsetto is heard only in the short opening and closing passages.

The 4 Seasons, featuring the 'sound' of Frankie Valli, brought the doo wop era of the 50s into the 1960s. I have always felt that their total vocal blend (not just a lead singer and 3 backup guys), along with creative vocal arrangements, is what made their sound unique and to this day cannot be replicated. To this end, I have isolated the vocals to try to present a picture of what their vocal sound was without any instrumental accompaniment.
