The 4 Seasons (w Frankie Valli): "Cry Myself To Sleep" acapella (almost)

"Cry Myself To Sleep" is taken from the first album The 4 Seasons recorded for the Philips label (1964), 'Born To Wander'. Perhaps influenced by the newly famous Bob Dylan or Peter, Paul, & Mary, or for some other reason, it's odd that this would be their first release on their new label. Right after the release of the 'Born To Wander' album, the Seasons went back into the studio to record the more famous and successful 'Dawn' album.

Though 'Born To Wander' produced no hits for the Seasons themselves, one of the songs, "Silence Is Golden", became a huge hit for the Tremeloes 3 years later, with an arrangement taken note for note from the Seasons' recording.

The 4 Seasons, featuring the 'sound' of Frankie Valli, brought the doo wop era of the 50s into the 1960s. I have always felt that their total vocal blend (not just a lead singer and 3 backup guys) is what made their sound unique and to this day cannot be replicated. To this end, I have isolated the vocals as much as possible to try to present a picture of what their vocal sound was without any instrumental accompaniment.
