I’m excited to bring you another episode from our series Revelations- where featured artists go deep on their greatest songs. The summer of 1989 was electric. It’s up there interns of blockbuster movies, You had Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Batman Lethal Weapon 2, Dead Poets Society, Ghostbusters 2 Field of Dreams, SO many great albums were released heading into and during that glorious summer too Pixies Dolittle, The Cure Disintegration tom Petty Full Moon Fever, the Cult Sonic Temple, The Stone Roses Debut Don Henley the End of the innocence Faith No More the real thing, Motley Crue Dr. Feelgood, and so many more. Pop radio was dominated that summer by Fine Young Cannibals, Milli Vanilli and Bobby Brown.

Hard Rock and Heavy Metal was still holding it’s own as Guns N Rose rebased their follow up to Appetite for Destruction and new bands like Tesla and Warrant were making their voices heard. One band that began a steady rise to the top was the rough and ready Skid Row. Their opening shot was a monstrous rebel anthem that scorched radio. Youth Gone Wild definitely made an impact on young kids coming of age and looking for any excuse to defy authority. And Youth Gone Wild was the best answer at that moment.

On this installment of Revelations, Dave the Snake Sabo, the guitarist co-founder and cowriter of Skid Row and this song reflects on creating the song and their debut album. One of the best hard rock debuts of the decade. With the glorious ear decimating wailings of one Sebastian Bach. flanked by the Snake, Scottie Hill, Rachel Bolan, and Rob Hammersmith I remember buying this album and wearing it out and I know many of you have similar experiences. I blasted Youth Gone Wild as loud as my stereo would go and it was one of those songs that my Dad yelled at me to turn down 50 times at least , maybe the number one song for that particular experience.
