Musk: Tesla Is Already Giving Access To Superchargers To Rivals

Elon Musk revealed on Twitter that several manufacturers have made an agreement with Tesla to have the possibility of offering their customers the recharge on the Superchargers of the Palo Alto brand. Young solar car maker Aptera could be the first to officially unveil such a partnership.

Tesla has relied heavily on Superchargers for its own development, since this homemade network allows it to avoid the difficulties associated with the network of terminals, which is often insufficient. The American brand indeed offers its customers a network developed specifically for its models, which currently has no compatibility with other brands.

But if Elon Musk's comments on Twitter are to be believed, this situation could change soon. Musk responded to a question from influencer and youtubeur Marques Brownlee. Brownlee asked himself the question, "Serious question: Why don't more electric car makers take up Tesla on their offer to use the Supercharging network? Incompatible tech? Hidden fees? Pride? There's gotta be a good reason."

And Musk replied, saying Tesla already is giving access. Here is what he said. “They are, although it’s kind low-key. Tesla Superchargers are being made accessible to other electric cars."

Musk had already hinted earlier that Tesla could share access to its Supercharger to other EV makers.

"Considering that Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the advent of electric vehicles, sharing the Supercharger Network is arguably a great idea. Tesla’s rapid chargers reach far and wide. In countries such as the United States, they are arguably the most stable network that allows electric cars to perform long drives consistently. If Tesla opens up its network to other carmakers and other EVs, then long-distance sustainable transportation could soon become the norm," reports Maria Merano of Teslarati.
