Advancing with Watercolor: Patterns "The Greenbelt"

This is a video done as a supplement to a watercolor class taught by Gary Tucker in Boston.
In this exercise I discuss and demonstrate ways in which the artist perceives and executes patterns in nature. Patterns in this case are trees of different distances, rocks in a stone wall, and dappled shadows. Acquiring the ability to perceive patterns and reduce them to brush strokes will eventually result in a more spontaneous and interpretive painting.

Painted on rough paper using mop brushes and a sablette brush as well as well. cobalt blue, sap green, b sienna, and neutral tint...
