Lama Lodu Rinpoche teaches Shamatha and Vipassana, leading to Mahamudra (Part 1 of 3)

The first week, Rinpoche will teach on Shamatha, Calm Abiding practice. Shamatha is the foundation for Vipassana practice, which is the basic foundation of the Mahamudra practice. This will be the topic of the last weekend of teachings. While you are developing mental clarity, you will encounter lots of obstacles such as sinking and excitement. Rinpoche's teachings on Shamatha will cover nine different stages of mental stability, based on the Ninth Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje's "Ocean of Certainty". These hindrances need to be overcome before you can start Vipassana practice, which then leads to Mahamudra. The second session covers Vipaassana and the third session covers Mahamudra based on the Uttara-tantra Shastra written by the Maitreya Bodhisattva and the songs of the great yogi, Milarepa.

This is Part 1 of 3 of the teachings.
